Dance Instruction

Not only do we focus on high quality, professional instruction here at Dancers Edge, but we also offer diverse classes so your dancer can find their true passion and have fun! All of our dance classes are taught by experienced, knowledgeable staff which allow our dance students to thrive.

Our Mission

To foster and support a love of dance, no matter what your future dance goals are!

Dance Instruction

We encourage our students to break out of their comfort zone for a comprehensive and well-rounded dance skill set. Every style of dance we offer classes in complements the rest. By learning a classical dance style, such as ballet, students are able to learn the basics of body positioning which they can use in their jazz or hip hop dance training. With each new style, your dancer’s confidence and flexibility will increase, making them a force to be reckoned with in the future!

Our combination classes teach basic technique in ballet, tap, and tumbling while incorporating creative props and movement to promote coordination and balance. Our combination classes are offered in a fun and exciting environment and are available for ages 2 – 6. (Ballet/Tap/Tumbling)

Ballet training includes strength and conditioning as well as barre and floor work. Pointe classes are also available through our Edge Performing Arts program. Contact us for more information. For ages 2-6, basic ballet technique is part of the combination classes–see above. Ballet is offered as a separate class on multiple levels for ages 6 and up.

Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique, including isolations of the body, performance quality, leaps and turns, and flexibility. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz including Broadway, street, and jazz/funk. Jazz is offered for boys and girls ages 6 and up as either individual or combination classes.

Our lyrical-contemporary classes combine the styles of ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance to explore interpretation and grace. As the name suggests, lyrical dance uses the lyrics of the music as inspiration to express emotion and gesture. Lyrical is offered for boys and girls ages 9 and up as either individual or combination classes.

Tap is a form of dance created from metal plates attached to both the ball and heel of a dancer’s shoe. It uses varying rhythmic patterns and can be performed to a wide variety of musical styles. For students ages 6 and under, tap is part of the combination classes–see above. We offer tap to students ages 6 and up, either as an individual class or in combination with other styles.

Hip Hop classes can incorporate the latest styles of pop and lock, gliding and breaking, as well as the latest street and free-style moves and freezes. In addition to our regular hip hop classes, we have special boys-only classes. Hip-Hop is offered for ages 6 and up.

Ultra barre is a fusion of ballet barre, dance conditioning, and Pilates-based movements designed to lengthen and tone the muscles using principles of biomechanics for a safe yet challenging workout. Dancers in ultra barre enjoy many benefits, including balance, better posture, core engagement, joint stabilization and alignment, muscular strength, and a toned body. This class is done bare footed. Comfortable workout clothing or ballet attire should be worn for class. Ultra barre is developed and taught by classically trained dancers and is designed for dancers of all skill levels, from novices to the professional dancer. Ultra Barre is open to anyone from teens to adults.

Tumbling includes cartwheels, round-offs, handsprings, and flips. Dancers Edge is the only dance studio in the Triad that features a 3,000 square foot tumbling facility complete with a sprung floor, foam pit, balance beams, tumble track, and more. Acro is centered on fundamental acrobatic technique to increase flexibility, balance, coordination, and strength while incorporating tumbling and dance. The same skills are worked on as in tumbling while incorporating more flexibility and performance techniques. Tumbling/Acro classes are offered for students ages 6 and up at our Kernersville location only.

We love being able to give individualized attention to our dancers whenever possible. If you’re hoping to increase skill level, get added help for competitions, or you want your dancer to have a more personalized approach, private lessons are available. Private lessons are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.
